CHS Key Club Captures HEB Pharmacy-UIL Award
October 11, 2005
The Central High School Key Club has won second place in the 2005
HEB Pharmacy-UIL Community Service Award contest. The purpose
of the award, to recognize Texas high schools for making a difference
in their home towns in an effort to enhance their community's quality
of life, fits closely with the goals of Key Club. Projects submitted were required to address a specific need in the community and to increase awareness of health care issues. The competition was open to any UIL member school in Texas. On behalf of H-E-B Pharmacy and the UIL, San Angelo Central High School received a check in the amount of $2,500 to commemorate the Key Club's involvement in a variety of service projects, such as Got D.U.C.?, Safe Kids Coalition, Meals for the Elderly, Little Olympics, Relay for Life, DESK Project, and many other community projects.
Key Club, a branch of Kiwanis Club, is the largest high school service organization in the world. The Key Club at Central is sponsored by Mary Groves and Rudy and Bea Barron.
Congratulations, CHS Key Club, on this outstanding award!
