SAISD Earns State's Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating
August 31, 2006
For the fourth year in a row, San Angelo Independent School District officials are pleased to announce that the district received a perfect score in the Financial Integrity Rating system of Texas and has been given the honor of earning a rating of "Superior Achievement". The Superior Achievement rating is the States highest, demonstrating the quality of San Angelo ISDs fiscal management and reporting system.
This is the fourth year of Schools FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas), a financial accountability system for Texas school districts developed by the Texas Education Agency in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999. The primary goal of Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas school finance system.
"Our district has come a million miles since the days of financial exigency," said San Angelo ISD Assistant Superintendent of Business and Support Services, Jeff Bright. "For now, we are on solid ground financially and will continue to work to improve our district operations each day. The rating should show the taxpayers that we are doing our best to make San Angelo ISD accountable not only for student academic success, but being financially responsible with our district's financial resources as well."
