SAISD High Schools Hold Patriots' Day Ceremonies

September 12, 2007

On September 11, Central High School and Lake View High School held ceremonies to honor those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedies our nation faced sixyears ago. Central High School seniors met in the school's theatre for a presentation by the JROTC Color Guard and Armed Guard. Members of the CHS choir sang the national anthem. Representative Drew Darby's address honored the fallen and reminded students that America is still a beacon of light and hope. Trumpeters from the CHS band concluded the programwith the playing of "Taps." Lake View High School JROTC held a ceremony at the school's flag pole at 10:28am, the time that the World Trade Center's second tower fell. The senior cadet leaders and Principal Matt Smith placed a memorial wreath beneath the flags flying at half staff. Trees on campus were tied with yellow ribbons, signifying the hope that our troops will safely return home.
