SAISD Hires New Assistant Superintendent

During the September 17 school board meeting, SAISD trustees voted unanimously to hire Shelly Hullihen as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Support Services. Hullihen, currently Assistant Superintendent of Livingston ISD, will take the place of current Assistant Superintendent Joanne Rice upon her retirement. Ms. Hullihen will begin employment with SAISD on Oct. 8, 2007.

A native of Ohio, Ms. Hullihen holds a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University and a Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin University. She has earned Texas certifications in elementary self-contained, elementary math, mid-management, and superintendency and has served as interim superintendent of Livingston ISD. She began her career in education in 1981 and has served as teacher, assistant principal, principal, elementary curriculum director, and assistant superintendent.

She has two daughters -- Caley, a graduate of the University of Texas, and Kelsy, a high school freshman.
