24 Challenge Winners

The 24 Challenge math competition was held on November 15, 2007. The annual event for 4th, 5th and 6th graders was hosted by the San Angelo Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants in conjunction with San Angelo ISD. In the competition, students play the 24 Game, which involves a deck of cards, each showing four whole numbers between 1 and 9. To win a card, a student must be the first to combine the four numbers to make 24 using only addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, using each of the four numbers only once.

4th grade winners were: Grand champion - Veronica Vu from Austin elementary; 1st runner-up - Hannah Flores from Austin elementary; 2nd runner-up - David Plate from Glenmore elementary; and 3rd runner-up - Dylan Green from Santa Rita elementary.

5th grade winners were: 1st runner-up - Brianda Leija from Glenmore elementary; Grand Champion - Matt Randall from Santa Rita elementary; 3rd runner-up - Jacques Forbes from Santa Rita elementary; and 2nd runner-up - Billy Johnston from Santa Rita elementary

6th grade winners were: Grand Champion - Sebastian Forbes from Lee Middle School; 1st runner-up - Vivek Desai from Lee Middle School; 2nd runner-up - Aaron Rojas from Lee Middle School; and 3rd runner-up - Tristian Ybarra from Glenn Middle School
