Long Range Facilities Plan Available
June 3, 2008
SAISD officials in conjunction with the board of trustees and the district Facility Advisory Committee have developed a Long Range Facilities Plan to address the current and future needs of the district. In keeping with school board policy, the plan addresses the district's anticipated school facilities needs and priorities.
The plan is broken into several components which together help to identify the costs, funding sources, and timelines involved in the remodeling, renovation, or replacement of district facilities. Some of the factors taken into consideration include enrollment projections and growth trends and the identification of current and future educational program needs for the district.
The plan includes detailed evaluations of each facility including assessment of structural integrity, mechanical integrity and efficiency, energy efficiency, operations and maintenance, and health and safety requirements. Also included is a prioritization of the needs for renovation of existing facilities and the provision of additional facilities and a cost analysis of potential capital projects to meet these needs. Examples of suggested improvements include new additions to campuses, removal of portable buildings, the replacement of aging and deteriorating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure and modifications to ramps, doors, and restrooms to bring existing facilities into ADA compliance.
The document also includes detailed information regarding the upcoming bond proposal.
