McCutchen Named to Hall of Fame

SAISD Executive Director of Athletics Doug McCutchen has been named to the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Fame and will be inducted in Lubbock October 23-24. As an offensive halfback for the Red Raiders in 1970, McCutchen led the Southwest Conference in rushing with 1,068 yards, making him the first 1,000 yard rusher in the history of Texas Tech football. 38 years later, his career total of 2,222 yards rushing remains 9th on the all-time career rushing yardage list.

Coach McCutchen, a native of Bronte, TX, holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech and a Master's degree from Angelo State. During his tenure from 2000-2008 as Athletic Director in Spring TX, the high school teams captured 26 district titles, 31 bi-district titles, and 24 area championship titles. He joined the SAISD family in 2008, bringing with him 35 years of experience in coaching and directing Texas athletic programs.
