Bond Progress Report - 11/4/2009

Santa Rita Project:
Phase 1B (north wing) is moving ahead as scheduled. Work is currently taking place in the classroom restroom areas, the classrooms and corridors. We believe this is on schedule and if flooring arrives in time we should be able to occupy the north end prior to Christmas.
Reese Albert is busy at Holiman on digging the foundation to add the fill dirt back in. We have experienced several delays in this project due to weather, gas line relocation and phone line relocation. The project is about 30-40 days behind schedule at this time and efforts will be made to make up the lost time. Rain and utilities that had to be relocated have caused delays. The playground shade and slab area have been relocated and are ready for use.
Final dollar figures for Lee have been established. The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) has been set at $10,751,340. This is about $2,500,000 below the established construction budget. We will still have asbestos abatement and possibly roof work that will need to come from that figure but we should still be under budget for the project.
Mid-Tex of Midland is issuing the bid documents for Goliad this week. We will have a GMP for the December Board meeting. The bid opening will be December 3, 2009 and construction should start in January 2010.
San Jacinto Project:
We have a project meeting scheduled for this week to get an update on San Jacinto. I am anticipating the construction documents to be complete around Thanksgiving with bidding in December. Construction on this project should begin in February.
We have been having weekly meeting on Central. We believe our drawings are almost complete. Huckabee will have the bid documents delivered to Lee Lewis on December 10 for Phase 1 of the CHS project. The first phase will include the new administration/science building, the new WTTC shops, the new Ag/Building Maintenance shop, new HVAC in both gyms and a few other renovation pieces. Phase 2 will be several months later and will include the rest of the renovations. I am anticipating a GMP on Phase 1 in February with construction to begin immediately on the WTTC shops that will include Auto Tech, Auto Body, Building Trades and 2 classrooms for Howard College. This building is to be completed prior to school starting in August of 2010. Other construction on the campus will begin in July of 2010 after abatement and demolition of Emerson Hall.
We have had an initial meeting to begin the planning phase on Crockett. It will be the next project we will begin working on and hope to have it ready for bidding in March of 2010.
Kinney Architects has begun some preliminary work on Glenmore. We will begin our design phase meeting in the next month and hope to have this project ready for bids in May of 2010.
