Out-of-School TAKS Registration Now Online

August 31, 2010

Beginning with the October 2010 administration of the TAKS exit level tests, all registration for "out-of-school" examinees will take place online only. "Out of school" refers to students who have finished all credit requirements for graduation and lack only passing scores on TAKS to receive their diplomas. School districts will no longer receive registration packets for the former students. TAKS examinees (including former TAAS and TEAMS examinees) must register online at http://www.TexasAssessment.com/taksoos. Examinees can continue to register on site at a participating campus the day of testing, if the campus can accommodate them. District personnel will then be responsible for entering the registration information online. Registration for the October exit level tests is currently open and will remain open through 5:00 PM (CT), September 17, 2010.

The TAKS exit level tests will be administered on October 19, 2010, (English language arts); October 20, 2010, (mathematics); October 21, 2010, (science); and October 22, 2010 (social studies). A list of participating campuses can be found at http://www.TexasAssessment.com/oosTestSites.

Since the TAAS tests are no longer being administered, former TAAS examinees (including former TEAMS examinees) will take the appropriate part of the TAKS exit level English language arts and/or mathematics test(s). The next administration of the TAKS retest for former TAAS examinees will be October 19, 2010, for English language arts writing; October 20, 2010, for mathematics; and October 21, 2010, for English language arts reading. TAKS scores will be matched to the appropriate TAAS passing standard.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive at the test site 30 minutes before the designated testing time. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver's license, DPS ID, military ID, school ID, or resident alien card to test. Examinees will not be able to take the test(s) without a picture ID.
