President Obama Speaks to Students

September 15, 2010

On Tuesday, September 14, President Obama gave his second annual back to school speech. This year's speech was given at Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School in Philadelphia, PA. Like last year, it was an opportunity to speak directly to students about the importance of committing to their educations.

The President pledged that government at all levels, working with communities and families, would do its part to make it possible for students to get the best education. But he made the point that the only people who could really make sure that happened were the students themselves. "I know that if hard work could make the difference for me, then it can make a difference for all of you," the president said."Each of us need to work hard. We all have to take responsibilities for our own education."
