SAISD Earns States Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating

October 19, 2010

For the eighth year in a row, San Angelo Independent School District officials are pleased to announce that the district received a rating of "Superior Achievement" under Texas' Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system. The Superior Achievement rating is the State's highest, demonstrating the quality of San Angelo ISD's fiscal management and reporting system.

This is the eighth year of Schools FIRST (Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas), a financial accountability system for Texas school districts developed by the Texas Education Agency in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999. The primary goal of Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts' financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas' school finance system.

"Our district continues to strive for excellence in all areas of operation," said San Angelo ISD Assistant Superintendent of Business and Support Services, Jeff Bright. "This rating should illustrate that we are doing our best to make San Angelo ISD accountable not only for our academic success, but we are exceeding state standards with our district's limited financial resources, and we will not stop working to improve our district a little more each day."
