May 20, 2011

San Angelo ISD has named Alta Loma Principal Jeana Farmer the new principal at Austin Elementary. Mrs. Farmer, a native of San Angelo, holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Angelo State. She has been employed by San Angelo ISD since 1998. She has taught at Belaire and Bradford and was named Teacher of the Year at both campuses. In addition to classroom teaching assignments, Mrs. Farmer was the instructional specialist at Belaire for three years. She was the assistant principal prior to becoming principal at Alta Loma Elementary, an EXEMPLARY campus for the past 4 years.

"SAISD is thrilled to have Jeana Farmer as principal at Austin Elementary. She was an exceptional instructional specialist at Belaire Elementary, an assistant principal under Debra Ledford, then for the last two and a half years has served as principal at Alta Loma. Her campus has continued to be Exemplary under her leadership and vision," stated Superintendent Dr. Carol Ann Bonds.

Mrs. Farmer said, "I am very excited to know that the district has such confidence in me to give me this wonderful opportunity. Even though I am sad to be leaving Alta Loma because it is like home to me, and I love the staff and students there, I am looking forward to meeting and working with the students and staff of Austin Elementary. "

Mrs. Farmer and her husband have three children and five grandchildren.
