CHS Choir Student Receives Top Recognition at State Competition

Central High School vocalist Sean Lee has received the UIL Outstanding Performer Award for the second consecutive year at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Outstanding Performer title indicates that Sean was the best soloist that his judge heard during the two-day contest.
Sean was among 28 students from the Central High School Choir Department who recently traveled to Austin to compete at the state meet. At the contest, five students received gold medals for superior ratings on solo performances, while thirteen students received silver medals for excellent ratings on solo performances.
Those who received superior ratings (gold medals) were sophomore Babiann Garcia, junior Lauren Hogg, sophomore Courtney Holtkort, senior Kate Lewis, and junior Sean Lee. Students who received excellent ratings (silver medals) were senior Christi Burkholder, senior Kelli Greenwood, junior Amy Gryder, senior Rebecca Hardegree, senior Hannah Jaeckle, junior Katherine Lauer, junior Lacy Neuwirth, senior Danielle Petrazzuolo, sophomore Meghan Rogers, junior Beth Steubing, sophomore Taylor Stewart, and sophomore Macy Wilcox. Macy also received an excellent rating for her piano solo performance.
A Madrigal (mixed vocal ensemble) also competed and received an excellent rating for their performance of "Sing We and Chant It". Those students are Christi Burkholder, Kelli Greenwood, Hannah Jaeckle, Cliff Laughard, Sean Lee, Kate Lewis, Cameron O'Briant, Megan Pluff, Joseph Rangel, and Erin Sudolcan.
Soloists were accompanied on the piano by Wade Bray. Les Cole and Sunday Bullock are the Choir Directors at Central High School.
