Joann Walter Named Outstanding Career and Tech Administrator

Joann Walter, the SAISD Director of Career and Technical Education, was named Outstanding Career and Technical Education Administrator by the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas. She was nominated by the district's Family and Consumer Sciences teachers and received the award during the Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony last month in Dallas.

Before becoming an administrator, Joann was a Family and Consumer Science teacher for fifteen years. Mrs. Walter continually advocates for students and all CTE programs. She supervises and manages over 65 CTE courses, 42 CTE teachers, a CTE counselor, a special populations coordinator, and a career center facilitator across six secondary campuses and a regional training center.

This is Mrs. Walter's 34th year as an educator. She has been with San Angelo ISD for the past 32 years, serving for the past ten years as Director of Career and Technical Education.
