SAISD Promotes Administrative Leadership

October 24, 2011

San Angelo ISD has announced the promotion of two district administrators.

Mrs. Raquel Rodriguez Taunton, Bradford Elementary Principal, has been named the new Director of Head Start/Early Head Start. Mrs. Taunton has served with SAISD for the past fourteen years. She began her career with the district as a special education teacher. Her classroom experience also includes 4th grade and bilingual Pre-Kindergarten. For the past eleven years, she has served as a campus administrator and principal. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and brings prior experience as a parent/infant trainer in the Early Childhood Intervention program, where she collaborated with community agencies in providing services for children and families. Mrs. Taunton will fill the Head Start/Early Head Start vacancy created by the resignation of Mrs. Robin Harmon earlier in the school year.

Mrs. Sarah Montelongo Coronado has been named the new Bradford Elementary Principal. She has served in San Angelo ISD for the past five years. Prior to her employment with the district, she taught Elementary Spanish, PK-6th grade and PK-1st grade, respectively, in two different private school settings. She began her SAISD career at Central High School, where she taught Sophomore English and ESL before being named a campus at-risk coordinator. Most recently, she has served as assistant principal at the Central Freshman Campus.

Superintendent Dr. Carol Ann Bonds stated, "SAISD is proud to promote both Mrs. Taunton and Mrs. Coronado, who are successful professionals in the fields of early childhood and bilingual education. They will build on already successful programs at our three Head Start campuses and Bradford Elementary."

Both administrators will begin their new duties November 1.
