New Central Freshman Campus Administrator Announced

SAISD proudly announces the hiring of a new assistant principal at the Central Freshman Campus. Mr. Merl Brandon has taken the position vacated by Mrs. Sarah Coronado, who recently became the principal of Bradford Elementary.

Mr. Brandon began his career in Miles ISD in 1992 where he taught for six years before serving as an administrator at Irion County ISD for one year. Since 1999, Mr. Brandon has served as the principal of Miles High School. His campus has been a TEA Recognized high school for the past four consecutive years in addition to being named in US News' "America's Best High Schools" and Texas Monthly's "Five Star School in Texas." He has been named the Region XV Principal of the Year three times, including in 2011, and was a state finalist for Principal of the Year in 2008.

He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Angelo State University, where he completed superintendent certification. He is currently enrolled in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Texas Tech University.

SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carol Ann Bonds stated, "We are so pleased to hire an assistant principal at CFC that has a wealth of experience as an administrator! SAISD welcomes Mr. Brandon with his track record of success."

Mr. Brandon is married and has three children. He will begin his duties in SAISD on November 28, 2011.
