SAISD Announces New CHS Band Director

SAISD announces the hiring of a new band director at Central High School. Mr. Joey Ashbrook comes to San Angelo from Coppell ISD, where he served for the last nineteen years. A native West Texan, he holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stephen F. Austin and a Master's degree in Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University as well as all-level teaching certification. He brings a total of twenty-three years of successful teaching experience to the district. Mr. Ashbrook's most notable accomplishments include four Texas Music Educators Association state honor band titles and nineteen years of consecutive UIL sweepstakes awards. He has twice been named Teacher of the Year and is frequently requested as an adjudicator, guest clinician, and motivational speaker throughout the state and country.

Mr. Ashbrook stated, "I am ecstatic to be here! Life led me here for a reason and I am excited about the tremendous potential of the students at Central High." I cannot think of a more rewarding career and challenge than helping young people realize their talents and actualize their potential while learning many life -long skills. Developing a love and appreciation for music, and providing joy and pride in success are the key elements to a successful and enriched program of any kind. That is what I want to offer the students and parents of San Angelo Central!"
