Central High School Gymnastics Teams Earn State Honors

The Central High School gymnastics teams had impressive outcomes at the 2013 Texas High School Gymnastics State Championship in Rockwall.

The Lady Cats capped off an undefeated season by capturing the state championship title. The 1st place trophy is the Lady Cats' 6th in the program's history. Coach Tony Walker, who has coached the Lady Cats for the past twenty-six years, led the team to its first state title in 1989 and to four consecutive state titles from 2006-2009.

The Central Boys Gymnastics Team also had an impressive showing as they earned the Bronze at state for a second consecutive season.

Central Boys' Gymnastics Coach Kern Arrott, who has coached the Bobcats for twenty-one years, was recognized at the state meet when he received the "Cultivating Gymnastics Culture in the Community" award, given to a coach with over 20 years of coaching experience. The award is considered the highest coaching honor in gymnastics in the state.
