CHS, CFC, Glenn, and Lee Bands Receive Sweepstakes Honors at UIL Competition

Several SAISD bands received top honors at the recent Region 6 UIL concert and sight-reading competition, held at the Wagner-Noel Performing Arts Center in Midland. The Central Freshman band received all first division "superior" ratings and was awarded the sweepstakes award. The Central Symphonic band received first division "superior" ratings in both concert and sight reading and also received the distinguished sweepstakes distinction. The Central Honor Winds received all first division "superior" ratings and the highest Sweepstakes award.

Of all of the schools performing at the regional level, Central High School was the only school having all competing bands receive the first division "superior" ratings in both concert and sight-reading.

Glenn and Lee Middle Schools also received all first division "superior" ratings and were the only middle school bands in their classes to receive the highest ratings from every contest judge.

Directors for the Central bands are Joey Ashbrook, Sarah Clark and Mike Barry. Directors for Lee Middle School are George Clark and David Heath. Directors for Glenn Middle School are Adam Chappell and Kristen Ellis.
