Austin Elementary to Celebrate 85 Years

Stephen F. Austin Elementary will hold a birthday bash on Saturday, October 10 to celebrate 85 years as a neighborhood school. The birthday celebration will be held from 9:00 a.m.–12 Noon at Austin Elementary, 700 N. Van Buren. The public is invited to attend as we remember the school’s rich history and celebrates the future.
Festivities will include:
Bulldog “R & R” at 9:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria - Registration and refreshments for everyone. Sign the guest book, get a name tag, then mix and mingle while enjoying cookies, punch, or coffee.
Ceremony at 9:45 a.m. in the courtyard - Reminisce with past administrators and staff and recognize special guests and alumni.
Tours, Photos, and Silent Auction at 10:30 a.m. - Campus tours led by 5th grade guides as well as photo opportunities, a silent auction, and displays of memorabilia.
Parade at 11:25 a.m. - This is the time for current students to show their pride in Austin. Students will gather in the courtyard with their teachers to march around the field. Parents and other visitors may view & cheer from inside/outside the fence. The parade will conclude in the multi-purpose bldg.
Closing Ceremony at 11:50 a.m. - Immediately following the parade, everyone is invited to gather at the flagpole for a closing ceremony lead by Mr. Nichols and a team of 5th graders.
