Alta Loma Elementary Dedicates School Library

October 19, 2015

Alta Loma Elementary has dedicated the school library in memory of fallen SAPD Sergeant Korby Kennedy.  Kennedy, who lost his life in the line of duty last June, had attended Alta Loma Elementary from kindergarten through fifth grade. The special ceremony, led by Alta Loma Principal Jeana Farmer, began with the singing of the National Anthem and an outdoor student balloon release before moving inside to the library.  The SAPD Honor Guard posted the colors and Alta Loma students led the pledges of allegiance.  Police Chief Tim Vasquez spoke of his regard for Sergeant Kennedy and expressed appreciation from the police department.  SAISD Superintendent Dr. Carl Dethloff conferred the library’s new name:  The Korby Kennedy Memorial Library.  Special guests included members of Sgt. Kennedy’s family.

Special thanks goes to HEB and Sierra Vista United Methodist Church their contributions.
