Summer Learning Opportunities Inspire SAISD Teachers

August 18, 2016

This summer, San Angelo ISD teachers had several professional development opportunities provided by the district.

Learning Palooza, for both elementary and secondary teachers, consisted of two days of focused training on such topics as guided reading, science instruction, and presentations from Middle School Matters researchers on math, reading, and writing.  One of the more unique presentations involved using Minecraft for instruction. SAISD teacher David Hooks, the session’s presenter, involved several of his students as assistants.

Teachers and administrators also attended Engage, the district’s newest technology conference. Planned and orchestrated by district Instructional Technology Coordinator Laura Howard, Engage featured presenters from both in and out of the district, and powerful learning opportunities. Teachers learned about Google Classroom, iPads, flipped classrooms, and much more.
