College Week Aims to Help Students with Financial Aid Application
October 11, 2016
Graduating seniors across the country are looking for ways to pay for their college education. In an effort to assist students to begin the process of seeking financial aid, San Angelo ISD has teamed up with the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, the P-16+ Education Partnership, and other community educators to host College Week.
College Week, which will be held October 17-20, will give parents and students an opportunity to meet with financial aid professionals to receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA, which is the federally required form for students seeking financial aid (including grants, loans and work-study), is the first and most important financial aid tool for students who will be college freshmen next year. Families are encouraged to complete and submit the FAFSA, even if they are unsure at this time of their student’s educational plans for next year as funds from FAFSA are first come first served.
College Week sessions will be held at various locations in San Angelo including both SAISD high schools. All San Angelo and Concho Valley high school students and their parents are invited to attend. By participating in one of these free events, families of college-bound students will take an important step toward applying for the financial resources necessary to make college a reality.
