Program Description
Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Education Agencies (LEA) provides supplemental funding to state and LEAs. The funding is for resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families provide a high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the state's student performance standards. Title I, Part A supports our schools in implementing a school-wide program. These programs must use effective methods and instructional strategies that are grounded in scientifically based research.
In General - A State educational agency or local educational agency shall use Federal funds received under this part only to supplement the funds that would, in the absence of such Federal funds, be made available from non-Federal sources for the education of pupils participating in programs assisted under this part, and not to supplant such funds.
