SAISD Employees Attend Health and Wellness Fair
October 12, 2012
Santa Rita Elementary was recognized as winner of the "Name Your Program" contest with their A+ Wellness logo concept.
At least 1,465 SAISD employees attended the district's Health Fair on Monday, October 8. The fair represents the first major event of a year-long pilot program with ASU Fit and Shannon Medical Center. Over 534 SAISD employees took advantage of free flu shots, glucose checks, vision tests, back massages and other wellness screenings.
Prior to the fair, SAISD sponsored a "Name Your Program" contest within the district. Santa Rita Elementary was recognized as creating the winning logo and concept. Their entry of "A+ Wellness" earned the campus $250.
In addition, the district held a drawing for campuses and departments with at least 70% attendance at the fair. In that category, Central High School and Bonham Elementary were named as the winners of $500 grand prize awards. Participation at the fair was so outstanding that a bonus drawing was held for campuses and departments with at least 50% participation. The Central Freshman Campus and San Jacinto Elementary will each be awarded $250.
All prize money will be used toward campus wellness initiatives.
