July 2, 2008

17 nontraditional students have graduated from SAISD Night School in a ceremony held on June 26 at the Central High School's Sarah Bernhardt Theatre. Night School Director Deborah Campbell and her fellow teachers planned the ceremony as a special tribute to the graduates who returned after months or years to earn their diplomas.

The ceremony's administrative address was given by Tammy Bright. Shawnta Gomez delivered the commencement address, while Renee Barron gave the graduate address. The Night School class was presented by Deborah Campbell and accepted by Dan Baker, School Board vice president. Board trustee Art Hernandez presented diplomas to the graduates.

Graduates included David Arroyo, Renee Barron, Brandy Garcia-Ford, Lacy Grube-Cuellar, Alyssa Herrington, John Herrera, O'Ryan Jones, Chelse Mungia, Erin O'Reilly, Tanya Piper-Chappell, Victor Quintana, Brianna Rodriguez, Vanessa Rodriguez, Sylvia Salas, David Segoviano, Jason Smith, and Miriam Tamguma.

The graduates were joined by family, teachers, and friends for a reception following the ceremony.
