Bond Progress Report - 6/15/2009

June 15, 2009

Santa Rita Project:

Construction started on Santa Rita on Monday, June 1, 2009. The contractor was on site as well as the SAISD moving crew. We emptied the construction area and the contractor began demolition on the restrooms. The asbestos abatement crew arrived Tuesday and started sealing the area. They should have started abatement Thursday afternoon. We will schedule our August meeting at Santa Rita to review the progress and update other projects.

Holiman Project:

Plans are progressing with Holiman. We plan on opening bids for the construction phase on July 15 with an award expected at the July Board meeting. Waldrop Construction will have the fencing in place for the new construction around the first of August and begin construction by September 1.

Lee Project:

Templeton Construction was approved as the Construction Manager At Risk for Lee. They will be busy this summer moving portable buildings to get ready for construction that is expected to begin in November.

Goliad Project:

Mid-Tex of Midland was chosen as the CMAR on the Goliad Project. They will be moving portables this summer to be ready for construction around the first of the year. I anticipate the GMax Pricing in November 2009 and construction should start in February/March 2010 with a completion date of December 2011. These dates will be refined as we get further into the project.

San Jacinto Project:

We will continue working with the architect on San Jacinto throughout the summer. We anticipate bidding this project before the end of 2009 and will begin work early in 2010. This job will be competitive sealed proposal.

Central Project:

We had six firms submit proposal for the CMAR at Central. All six are very good and have a lot of school experience. I will present our recommendation to the Board on June 22, 2009. I anticipate the GMax Pricing in March 2010 with construction starting in June 2010 with a completion date of summer 2013. These dates will be refined as we get further into the project. There will be multiple phases for this project and some of the smaller additions may be bid in the next 6 months. We will know more about the phasing and the bidding after we get a CMAR on board with the architect.
