San Angelo Schools Foundation Awards More than $66,000 in Grants to Teachers
November 14, 2018
On November 12, the San Angelo Schools Foundation held its third annual Grants To Teachers Awards Ceremony at the ASU LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center. The Grants to Teachers program works to support SAISD teachers by providing classroom grants and all-campus grants with the hope of enriching the education of SAISD students. The Schools Foundation has been awarding teacher grants since 1989.
Representatives from the Foundation awarded grants to 150 SAISD teachers from 23 different campuses, with Austin, Crockett, Lamar, and McGill Elementary Schools and Glenn Middle School receiving all-campus grants. This year’s total amount awarded was $66,570.
Since the inception of the Grants to Teachers program, the Schools Foundation has awarded approximately $494,384 in grants to SAISD teachers.
With the help of the Schools Foundation grant money, SAISD teachers in all grade levels have found interesting and imaginative ideas for enhancing learning in core academic subjects, and the creative arts, in ways that inspire and motivate students. The district is extremely grateful to the Schools Foundation for their continued support.
