Bond 2025 Construction Update — January 12, 2026

RJ Lopez from Parkhill Architects provided a monthly update on Bond 2025 construction and design progress during the January 12, 2026 pre-agenda board meeting. Overall, projects remain on schedule and are moving from early planning into more detailed design and active construction phases.

Crockett Elementary School

  • Actively under construction.

  • Concrete block construction is underway; the kitchen exterior is complete.

  • Structural steel is on site, and framing is set to begin with cranes already mobilized.

  • Project remains on track to open in August 2026, confirmed the day of the meeting.

McGill Elementary School

  • Bid process is progressing well, with strong contractor interest.

  • Ten contractors picked up drawings; five bids were officially submitted.

  • Board action on bids was scheduled later in the meeting.

  • Design highlights shown to the board included:

    • New library and administrative spaces.

    • Additional classroom wings, music room, maker space, and STEM areas.

    • Campus consolidation that brings most instructional spaces under one roof.

    • Expanded parking and a new drop-off drive on the back side of the campus.

  • Site plan permitting is nearly complete, allowing for immediate mobilization once bids are awarded.

Glenn Middle School

  • Design work is advancing from general massing concepts to more refined layouts.

  • Interior space locations and exterior design elements are being further defined.

  • Over the coming months, materials such as glass and brick will be selected.

  • More detailed, lifelike renderings will be presented as design decisions are finalized with stakeholders.

Lake View High School

  • Schematic designs are progressing toward material selection and realistic renderings.

  • Site planning updates shown included:

    • Additional parking and a new drop-off drive on the west side to improve access for events at the gym and auditorium.

    • Reduced need for pedestrians to cross the street from the main circular drive.

    • A new bus drive on the east side near the JROTC and classroom wing, accommodating approximately eight buses.

    • Covered walkways connecting academic buildings and CTE facilities.

  • Early interior concept images were shared for the new Mariachi Hall, showing:

    • Storage cabinetry and functional layouts.

    • Mirror walls for performance practice.

    • Acoustic treatments, potential color schemes, window integration, and a wood practice floor.

Central High School

  • Updated renderings showed refined layouts with seating capacities now included:

    • Auditorium: approximately 1,000 seats.

    • Gymnasium: approximately 2,200 seats.

    • Cafeteria: approximately 1,000 seats.

  • Plans include a new cafeteria, kitchen, culinary lab, and health science lab.

  • Corridor layouts were adjusted to create a larger central connector between the gymnasium and cafeteria to better support daily student circulation and future campus phases.

  • Site and floor plan overlays were shown, illustrating how the new auditorium, gym, and dining facilities integrate near Tucker Hall.

  • Construction phasing will be coordinated to allow continued use of existing facilities where possible, with demolition of the current auditorium expected as an early step.

Parkhill noted that the district has made significant progress across all projects and will continue refining designs, coordinating phasing, and bringing forward updated renderings and construction milestones in future board meetings.
