New to District Initial GT Screening

Students currently enrolled in a private school that does not offer initial screening for GT identification may participate in GT screening in SAISD. SAISD is not required to provide this screening opportunity, however, we want to identify and serve GT students in our community. The screening will be held in the month of April . Students will be screened at the SAISD Administration Building on two separate days at designated times. In order to complete the screening process, students will need to be present both days. Make up times for missed days will not be offered. Parents/guardians must complete and sign the Parent Information Survey and pay an administration fee of $100 prior to any tests being administered. (Demonstration of financial need may be considered to waive the administrative fee.)

The parent or guardian will be notified in writing if the student qualifies for the SAISD Gifted and Talented Program. If a student qualifies, a Parent Permission to Enroll Form will be sent to the parents/guardians. GT identified students may request a transfer to a magnet campus or they may choose to attend their home campus. If you are interested please contact the Advanced Academics Office prior to March 10, 2023 at  tiffany.huebner@saisd.org

Multiple sources are used for GT identification of students including:

  1. Parent Information Survey
  2. Grade appropriate achievement test
  3. Grade appropriate ability test
  4. Student Profile
