New to District Initial GT Screening
Students who are new to SAISD and plan on enrolling for the upcoming school year may participate in GT screening in April and June. The screening is held at the SAISD Administration building on 2 separate days during the month of April and two separate days during the month of June. In order to compete the screening process, students will need to be present on both days.
Parents/guardians must complete and sign the Parent Information Survey and pay an administration fee of $100 prior to any screeners being administered. (Demonstration of financial need may be considered to waive the administrative fee.)
The parent or guardian will be notified in writing if the student qualifies for the SAISD Gifted and Talented Program. If a student qualifies, a Parent Permission to Enroll Form will be sent to the parents/guardians. GT identified students may request a transfer to a magnet campus, or they may choose to attend their home campus and be served through a pullout program once a week. Please note that transfer requests are granted based on capacity and final decisions may not be made until the week before the first day of school.
If you are interested in new to district GT screening, please contact the Advanced Academics Office prior to the end of March for the April screening and prior to the end of May for the June screening at tiffany.huebner@saisd.org.
Multiple sources are used for GT identification of students including:
