Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs
Program Description
Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs Operated by Local Education Agencies (LEA) provides supplemental funding to state and LEAs. The funding is for resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families provide a high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the state's student performance standards. Title I, Part A supports our schools in implementing a school-wide program. These programs must use effective methods and instructional strategies that are grounded in scientifically based research.
In General - A State educational agency or local educational agency shall use Federal funds received under this part only to supplement the funds that would, in the absence of such Federal funds, be made available from non-Federal sources for the education of pupils participating in programs assisted under this part, and not to supplant such funds.
Title I Parental Involvement Policy
The goals for the San Angelo Independent School District Title I Program are to ensure the educational success of all students by having high expectations, a commitment to excellence and a comprehensive parental involvement program. A positive link between home and school creates the most conducive learning condition for every child. Therefore, San Angelo ISD will include parents in all aspects of the Title I program. Every student will be given every opportunity for success through the development and enhancement of the home/school partnership. SAISD title I program will offer parents the opportunity to participate in the annual parent conference.
