What are the requirements for substitutes?

• 20 years of age or older
• High school diploma/GED
• Pass Criminal Background Check
• Complete an online application 
• Complete orientation
• Fingerprinted through TEA 

How does the fingerprinting process work?

All substitutes must be fingerprinted prior to the first day of being able to work in San Angelo ISD. You are required to pay for their own fingerprinting. If you have already fingerprinted through the Texas Education Agency, you will not be required to fingerprint again.

How often are substitute assignments available?

Substitutes are needed on a daily basis. SmartFind Express will call twice a day with available assignments. Assignments can also be accepted online through the SmartFind Express website or through the mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

When are substitutes paid?

Substitutes are paid monthly on the 23rd of each month.
