Substitute FAQS
What are the requirements for substitutes?
- 20 years of age or older or
- 18 years of age or older if holds Education Aide Certification or Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification
- Eligible to sub in Elementary, Early Childhood and/or Tiny Texans
- High school diploma/GED
- Pass Criminal Background Check
- Complete an online application
- Complete orientation
- Fingerprinted Texas Education Agency
How does the fingerprinting process work?
All substitutes must be fingerprinted prior to the first day of work in San Angelo ISD. Once you have attended an orientation you will receive a Fast Pass from Texas Education Agency to your personal email address. You are required to pay for your own fingerprinting. If you have already fingerprinted through the Texas Education Agency, and it was after 2015 you will not need to fingerprint again, but if it was prior to 2015 there is a possibility you will have to fingerprint again.
How often are substitute assignments available?
Substitutes are needed on a daily basis. Frontline Absence Management will call twice a day with available assignments. Assignments can also be accepted online through the Frontline Absence Management website or through the mobile app, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
When are substitutes paid?
Substitutes are paid monthly on the 23rd, unless that date falls on a holiday or weekend, in which case they are paid on the Friday before.
