"The Nuff" by Veronica Waldrop, Read by H-E-B Store Leader Tasha Gallegos

San Angelo ISD celebrated International Women’s Day with a special San Angelo READS! event in partnership with H-E-B on Monday, March 8, 2021. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Thanks to H-E-B, all SAISD 1st grade students received their very own copy of the book “The Nuff” by Veronica Waldrop on Monday along with a message of the importance of reading and empowering young women. Waldrop hoped to empower girls everywhere to be the bold and confident women they were created to be. In the book, a unicorn with a broken horn discovers the truth about herself and what it means to be enough through a series of adventures.

H-E-B Store Leader Tasha Gallegos read the book "The Nuff" to first graders at Bonham Elementary on Monday afternoon. The read aloud featured a colorful, magical backdrop by San Angelo balloon design and decorating company Vivid Pop. HEB’s H-E-Buddy and his friend Layla the Unicorn participated in the fun by greeting elementary students at Bonham Elementary while reminding them to keep reading, H-E-Buddy’s favorite activity.
