SAISD provides a comprehensive compensation package for employees that includes: salary, health insurance benefits, workers' compensation insurance, unemployment insurance and paid leave.

Employee Health Plan

San Angelo ISD is committed to providing employees with a comprehensive group health plan. The district has partnered with Teacher Retirement Systems (TRS) to provide group health insurance through their ActiveCare Plans . Administration of the plan benefits is provided by a third party administrator.

Supplemental Benefits

SAISD offers benefits to supplement existing employee health insurance coverage. These are offered under the Cafeteria Plan, otherwise known as Section 125 of the 1978 Federal Tax Reform Act, which allows employees to deduct the premium paid for eligible benefits from their gross earnings before federal taxes are calculated and deducted.

San Angelo ISD now has 457(b) FICA Alternative

Effective August 1, 2019 all temporary, seasonal, and substitute employees who are not TRS Annuitants, will be enrolled in the 457(b) FICA Alternative Plan when receiving their first paycheck.   For further information, please see the FICA Alternative information.

Investment Options

San Angelo ISD offers two different investment options for retirement purposes: a 403(b) Annuity Plan and a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Employees may participate in one or both plans and may make an initial deferral election or change an existing deferral election at any time during the year.
