Substitute FAQS

What are the requirements for substitutes?

• 20 years of age or older
• High school diploma/GED
• Pass Criminal Background Check
• Complete an online application 
• Complete orientation
• Fingerprinted through TEA 

How does the fingerprinting process work?

All substitutes must be fingerprinted prior to the first day of being able to work in San Angelo ISD. You are required to pay for their own fingerprinting. If you have already fingerprinted through the Texas Education Agency, you will not be required to fingerprint again.

How often are substitute assignments available?

Substitutes are needed on a daily basis. The Frontline Absence System will call twice a day for available assignments. Access to Frontline via the web and mobile app (iphone or android) are also available to accept assignments. 

When are substitutes paid?

Substitutes are paid monthly on the 23rd of each month.
