Inclement Weather Contingency Plan Information for Central High School and Lake View High School Graduation Ceremonies

Inclement Weather Contingency Plan Information for Central High School and Lake View High School Graduation Ceremonies

San Angelo ISD is closely monitoring the weather for our Class of 2021 graduation ceremonies this Saturday, May 29th at 9:00 am. It is our goal to continue as planned with outdoor ceremonies at San Angelo Stadium and Lake View Stadium.

In the event of inclement weather, SAISD has made alternative plans and arrangements for the ceremonies so that it is a special occasion for all graduates. SAISD will make a decision if necessary, and communicate any such updates on our district website www.saisd.org, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and by the district notification system email and text to high school families.

Contingency plans are as follows:

  • Plan A (1-Hour Delay): If necessary, SAISD will make a decision in response to inclement weather. The initial plan would be to postpone the start time of graduation by one hour, but a longer delay is possible. With a one-hour delay, the start of graduation ceremonies would be pushed back from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. It is possible that only one high school ceremony could be delayed, but the other continue as regularly scheduled.
  • Plan B (Further Delay / Move to Foster Coliseum): If further delay becomes necessary due to weather conditions, the graduation ceremonies will be moved to Foster Coliseum at 50 E 43rd St, San Angelo, TX 76903. Details by high school will be as follows:
    • Lake View High School: Ceremony will begin at 1:30 pm (Doors open at 12:30 pm). Tickets will still be required for admittance.
    • Central High School: Ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm (Doors open at 4:00 pm). Tickets will still be required for admittance, but due to capacity limitations at the venue and the size of the CHS graduating class, only orange tickets will be admitted (for a maximum of 6 per student rather than 10).

All ceremonies will be recorded and broadcast on Suddenlink Channel 4 in San Angelo and uploaded to the SAISD Youtube channel. Great effort and planning are being invested into making this milestone special for all graduates and their families, whether as regularly planned or if changed in response to weather conditions. SAISD appreciates the adaptability and understanding of our students and families as we work to create meaningful celebrations for our Class of 2021. We look forward to recognizing our students in their caps and gowns Saturday.
