SAISD Hiring Bus Drivers

Do you want to make a difference in the community? Join our transportation team. We are hiring bus drivers.

We offer a starting salary of $14.75/hr.  In addition, hiring and recruitment incentives are available. New bus drivers are eligible for a one-time, new employee hiring incentive of $500.00 to be paid in two equal installments of $250.00.  Current full time drivers, monitors, and mechanics are also eligible for a recruitment/finder’s incentive for each new certified full time bus driver he/she successfully recruits to join the department. Bus Drivers Requirements:

Pre-Employment

• Criminal background check by fingerprint
• Acceptable driving record
• Drug test

Post-Employment

• Class B CDL Testing Process
  • 4 written tests - general knowledge, air brakes, passenger, school bus
  • Complete a pre-trip walk, skills test, and driving test
• Certification
  • 20-hour state certification
  • First aid/CPR
