SAISD Schools to Open on Regular Schedule Wednesday, October 28

SAISD Schools to Open on Regular Schedule Wednesday, October 28

San Angelo ISD campuses and offices will OPEN as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Elementary, middle and high schools will all open at normal start times.

However, we anticipate some bus pick up times may be delayed due to route modifications made to avoid bridges and overpasses more prone to freezing.

Currently, local forecasts call for continued precipitation throughout the night; however temperatures will remain above freezing. We will continue to monitor the weather overnight and throughout the morning. If weather conditions necessitate changes to the schedule, we will communicate that in the morning.

SAISD has been in constant contact with the National Weather Service, TxDOT, the Department of Public Safety, and other local agencies. In addition, SAISD crews will begin driving the roads tomorrow morning at 4:00 a.m. to assess driving conditions.

It is important to note that decisions made regarding school delays and/or closures are not based on temperature, but icy road conditions that make travel dangerous.

We appreciate the flexibility of our students, staff and families as we make every effort to make weather-related decisions that are in the best interest of our students and staff and that at times necessitate schedule changes to the academic calendar.
