San Angelo ISD Receives a $26,182 Rebate as a Result of an Infrastructure Improvement Project

San Angelo ISD received a rebate check in the amount of $26,182 on Monday, February 8, 2021 from Schneider Electric, a multinational company specializing in energy and automation digital solutions for efficiency and sustainability. The rebate resulted from noteworthy savings achieved by SAISD and Schneider Electric in a successful, ongoing infrastructure improvement project. Schneider Electric has a department devoted to working with utility companies to identify rebates and grants related to the efficiencies created through improvement projects, and then returned 100% of the rebates and grants from the SAISD infrastructure improvement project to the District.

SAISD has partnered with Schneider Electric since January 2020, when it began work on the comprehensive infrastructure improvement project to replace aging infrastructure and increase the efficiency of two district campus buildings: Glenn Middle School and Lincoln Middle School.

“Classroom comfort is very important in the education of our students.  Working with Schneider Electric and AEP has improved our current energy efficiency program,” said Jason Henry Director of Purchasing for SAISD.  “These rebates and cost savings will put money back into our educational programs.”

Aging infrastructure is a challenge in some SAISD facilities. Through the infrastructure improvement project, the District will be able to continue to tackle critical infrastructure issues without a bond issue or tax increase for the San Angelo community. This project will help the district save on energy and maintenance expenses, while simultaneously streamlining district operations and enhancing the student experience and classroom learning environment.

Targeted improvements across SAISD middle school buildings include upgraded heating and cooling systems that are designed to improve occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and system reliability, and updated Building Automation Systems (BAS) that will provide scheduling of HVAC equipment to match occupant schedules as well as optimize energy efficiency and improve occupant comfort.

When providing the rebate check to SAISD, Schneider Electric Regional Program Director, Energy & Sustainability Services Lance Wyatt noted that the company works with utility companies to identify rebates and grants related to the efficiencies created through the projects, and then returns 100% of the rebates and grants to SAISD.
