San Angelo ISD Releases Modifications to High School Academic Calendar

San Angelo ISD Releases Modifications to High School Academic Calendar

Update 8/12/2020:

Due to the influx of questions from our announcement yesterday, San Angelo ISD would like to provide the following points of clarification:

  • San Angelo ISD in-person instruction high school students will begin online instruction August 19th with digital support rather than in the classroom. High school students make up approximately one third of our SAISD student body. The ability to phase in correlates with the current medical guidance we are receiving. Information from our local health authorities suggests younger students have lower transmission rates of COVID-19 and are less likely to be infected by it.
  • In-person instruction students will receive information on how to connect online for the first two weeks of school and receive digital support from their teachers. Schoology learning management system usernames and passwords will be provided to students for access from August 19th through September 1st.
  • Virtual Academy students will receive information on how to access their courses through the virtual platform Edgenuity including usernames and passwords that will be communicated by the district or campus early next week.
  • Devices - High School campuses will be sending information to students and families this weekend concerning device pick up, including location and times, via their website, social media and email. Device pick up will take place the first week of school.

  • August 19th - Elementary and middle school students begin in-person instruction and the SAISD Virtual Academy
  • August 19th - All high school students, grades 9 - 12, begin instruction virtually
  • September 2nd - All high school students, grades 9 - 12, who opted for in-person instruction will report to campus
  • Extracurricular activities and athletic schedules will be communicated by coaches and sponsors

We continue to evaluate and consult with local health officials and the Center for Disease Control multiple times per week to assess current conditions. San Angelo ISD has implemented protocols at all campuses and facilities to maximize safety.

San Angelo ISD looks forward to serving the needs of our community and students.
