UIL Releases Modified Activities Calendar and COVID-19 Guidelines

UIL Releases Modified Activities Calendar and COVID-19 Guidelines

On July 21, 2020, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) released modifications to the 2020 - 2021 UIL calendar and updated COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines. These modifications and updates will take effect on August 1, 2020.

With the rise of COVID-19 cases across Texas in mind, UIL has made modifications to the UIL 2020 - 2021 calendar which differ by activity and conference. The plan released provides a delay for schools, primarily conferences 5A-6A, given the challenges with COVID-19 in those communities, while providing smaller schools in the area, primarily 1A-4A, an opportunity to start seasons on schedule. A chart with details on the modifications can be found below:

Additionally, UIL released updates to their risk mitigation guidelines which includes guidance around face coverings, general operations and protocol for individuals confirmed or exposed to COVID-19, congregation settings, practice and rehearsal activities, spectators and media, and concession stands and food service.

The athletics department  and band directors at San Angelo ISD are working to determine and revise dates for our UIL activities affected by these changes and will release more updates soon.
