OFFICIAL BALLOT LANGUAGE

SAN ANGELO ISD PROPOSITION A

Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate of $0.812310 per $100 valuation in San Angelo Independent School District for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 4.317 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the district for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $2,049,912.

Ballot Language Explained

Ballot language can be complex. When San Angelo ISD voters get their ballots, they will not read how Proposition A revenue will be used or how much the state will contribute. The revenue generated by Proposition A will go toward teacher and staff pay, and staffing and an armed officer at every campus.

The official ballot language says the proposal will generate an additional $2 million, but that is just from local taxpayers. Prop A will also require the state to kick in over $4 million to San Angelo ISD, for a total of $6 million in additional revenue, annually. Approximately 65% of the money generated by Prop A will come from the state. For every dollar local taxpayers put in, the state will put in two dollars.
