SAISD Summer Programs 2026

San Angelo ISD is excited to offer a variety of summer programs designed to support student learning, growth and successful transitions into the upcoming school year. From academic support and credit recovery to jump-start programs and specialized services, these opportunities help students stay engaged and future-ready throughout the summer months. These summer opportunities reflect San Angelo ISD’s continued commitment to supporting the whole child and celebrating all the ways our students are SMART.  Read below to learn more about opportunities and how to register. 

Elementary School Opportunities

Elementary
Summer School

Summer Programs 2022 - Elementary Literacy Camp

This summer, instruction is for students entering 2nd and 5th grade, including direct instruction in reading and math. Elementary INspire Summer School will also be held at Bowie Elementary on the same dates. The need for the program is determined individually by the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee based on the child's specific and unique needs and goals.

  • Dates: July 8-23, 2026
  • Times: 8:00 a.m. to Noon
  • Locations: Bowie Elementary and Reagan Elementary
  • Registration details will go out in May. 

 

Emergent Bilingual Elementary Summer School

Summer Programs 2022 - English Learners Summer Learning Program

This program serves emergent bilingual students entering kindergarten and first grade. It is designed for English language learning with a focus on individual student needs. Students receive focused instruction designed to support language development and academic success.

  • Dates: July 6-30, 2026, Monday through Thursday
  • Times: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm 
  • Location: Reagan Elementary 
  • Registration details will be sent out in May. 

Specialized
Reading Intervention

This summer reading intervention program supports students entering first grade from Belaire and Goliad Elementary Schools and focuses on direct reading instruction. 

  • Dates: July 8-23, 2026, Monday through Thursday
  • Times: 8:00 am to Noon
  • Location: Held at Reagan Elementary for Belaire and Goliad Elementary students

Kindergarten Jump Start Program

Future-ready begins here – and we're here to support every step of the way! We understand that starting kindergarten is a big change and an important step in a student’s academic journey. That’s why we’re excited to offer our incoming kindergarten students an opportunity to “jump start” their elementary experience. Kindergarten Jump Start helps incoming Kindergarten students become familiar with classroom routines and school expectations before the first day of school. Preference will be given to those with no prior school experience. Parents will be notified of enrollment or waitlist in June.

Dates: July 16–17 and 20–21
Times: 8:30–11:30 a.m.
Locations: Glenmore and Goliad Elementary Schools

Special Programs Elementary Extended School Year

Summer Programs 2022 - Extended School Year

During San Angelo ISD's Extended School Year (ESY), our highly trained special education teachers and support staff are dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential. SAISD provides a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters academic and personal growth. ESY services are individualized instructional programs for eligible students with disabilities that are provided beyond the regular school year. The need for ESY services is determined individually by the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee based on the child's specific and unique needs and goals. ESY is not the same as traditional Summer School. ESY services are specially designed to help students with disabilities maintain the progress they have made during the school year. 

  • Dates: July 13-24, 2026, Monday through Friday
  • Times: 8:00 am - 11:30 am
  • Location: Reagan Elementary
  • Registration: Registration by invitation. Registration details will go out in May.

Secondary School Opportunities

Middle School Jump Start Summer Program

Middle School Jump Start with school logos down at the bottom and the San Angelo ISD logo.

We understand transitioning to middle school is a big change and an important step in students’ academic career. That’s why we are excited to offer our incoming 6th grade students an opportunity to “jump start” their middle school experience. Middle School Jump Start gives incoming sixth-grade students an opportunity to become familiar with middle school expectations and routines to help make the transition successful. Students attend one of three available sessions.

Dates: July 8–9, July 13–14, or July 15–16
Times: 8:30–11:30 a.m.
Locations: Glenn, Lincoln and Lone Star Middle Schools

High School Summer School STEM and Humanities

High School Algebra

This summer program is designed for students needing small group instruction and support to prepare for End-of-Course (EOC) exam retesting. There will be two sessions offered in the month of June for students that will focus on accelerated instruction to prepare for the EOC STAAR assessments that are part of the graduation requirements. One session will be focused on STEM (Algebra 1 and Biology) and one session focused on humanities (English 1, English 2, and US History). Students are invited to sign up for one session or both. Students attend from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

Session 1: June 9, 11 and 15–17 for Central High School students
Session 2: June 17–18 and 22–24 for Lake View High School students

Humanities Sessions:
Session 1: June 9, 11 and 15–17 for Lake View High School students
Session 2: June 17–18 and 22–24 for Central High School students

High School Summer Credit Recovery

Summer Programs 2022 - HS Credit Recovery

This program allows high school students to retake courses and recover credits needed for graduation using the Edgenuity platform.

Locations: Central High School and Lake View High School 
Dates: July 7–9, 14–16 and 21–23 
Times: 8:00 a.m. to Noon

SAISD Summer Athletic Camps

Summer Programs 2022 - Athletic Camps

SAISD celebrates all the ways students are smart, including by developing their sports talents and team and individual skills. This summer SAISD coaches and staff will host camps for elementary through high school students for various sports. These camps are not free and do have registration fees that vary. Dates/times, locations and costs of participation vary. Camps offered include the following sports: baseball, soccer, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, softball, volleyball and football. Sic ‘em Cats and Go Chiefs and Maidens!

Summer Meals Program

In addition to summer enrichment activities listed above, SAISD will also offer Summer Meal Program sites to provide children and teens ages 18 and younger healthy meals, including breakfast and lunch, starting in June at no cost, just by showing up at a participating site. Children do not have to be classified as economically disadvantaged to participate, and there is no paperwork to complete.
